You've Rescued an Animal. . .What Next?
Creatures Great & Small Rescue Policy
We are an animal welfare group and we have a limited number of approved foster homes. We reserve space for our official rescue animals, who are most likely pulled from high-kill situations, from shelters who will be euthanizing them, or from a situation where the animal is suffering extreme abuse or neglect. Our approved foster homes are almost always full because there are many more needy animals than there are foster homes.
However, if you have rescued an animal for whom you'd like to find a home, you are welcome to follow the procedures listed below so that our group can help you rehome your rescue animal (we will not approve an animal who has been taken from an individual or a safe situation. Our energies must be reserved for those animals who are truly rescues):
1. You MUST fill out the Rescue Foster Program application which we will email you and either email it to us or fax it to us: creaturesgands@hotmail.com.
2. Create a flyer for your rescue animal and we encourage you to follow the Best Friends suggestions for rehoming. http://www.bestfriends.org/nomorehomelesspets/resourcelibrary/flyermaker/flyermaker.cfm
3. If you have rescued an animal, go to PetSmart and fill out a FOUND card and add it to the bulletin board right inside the main front doors.
4. We will contact you and review your application. If you are approved, we will begin assisting you in preparing your animal to be able to attend our adoption events. This will include our protocol vetting, which will have to be done prior to your adopting out the animal.
4. Check out the Creatures Great & Small site, especially the Calendar of Events site, so you can prepare to come to our adoption events. Make sure you peruse the pages and links designed to help you optimize your rehoming process.
5. Sign up for our e-list by emailing us at creaturesgands@hotmail.com and typing e-list in the memo line. We frequently send out updates and announcements to our supporters, fosters, volunteers.
By following our protocols, and with your excellent care of your foster animal, we can be confident that your animal will find a great home. Thank you for saving an animal!!!

YOU HAVE AN ANIMAL WHO NEEDS A HOME? Please read the following carefully:
Owner surrendered animals at our local shelters are in immediate danger of being destroyed, no matter how cute and cuddly they are. There are just simply too many animals due to the casual attitude towards spaying and neutering in this part of the country.
Although the shelters are doing the best they can, they are overwhelmed with animals and cannot possibly house the multitude of animals who need homes.
Don't fool yourself into thinking that your cute little dog or cat will not be destroyed if taken to a shelter. There is a good chance that he/she will due to lack of space. This is why Creatures Great & Small are here to help you try and rehome your animal using the Rescue Foster Program.
We want to thank our wonderful sponsoring veterinarians, without whom we couldn't run our rescue. They continually give us support, advice, discounts, great service and more. We rely on them:
